The Word Rightly Divided

God did not give us His Word to confuse us, but that we “might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.” (John 17:3).

However, many Christians freely confess that they do not study the Bible because it confuses them. But, since God is not the author of confusion, the confusion then must come from a lack of knowledge, or improper application of the distinctions which God makes in His word. The serious student of the Bible will not ignore these distinctions, but will be careful not to intermingle their promises, commands or results. To do so will result in confusion and wrong application of the Scripture.

For example, God makes a clear distinction between three classes of people on the earth in 1 Corinthians 10:32, “Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God.” When we ignore this distinction and try to apply truth that is intended for Israel to the Church, we are bound to become confused. So it is vitally important for us to know the various distinctions in the word of God and to interpret and apply them as we are “rightly dividing the word of truth.”

This volume is designed to help the reader to understand and apply some of these distinctions, (not all, that would be impossible apart from a complete analysis of the Bible), and to hopefully clear up some misconceptions people may have.
